About Us

“Most PI firms talk about themselves. We focus on your situation.”

Howler Investigative is a licensed private investigation firm headquartered in Arizona (AZ PI License #1821288) and a Di company. Howler handles the licensed investigative work — backgrounds, locates, asset investigations, accident and death investigations, insurance and litigation support — for individuals, families, and small businesses in California, across the United States, and internationally. For complex strategic intelligence, executive-level due diligence, and advisory work, our clients are served through Di, our affiliated intelligence consultancy. Cases routed between the two firms move with a single point of contact and a single written deliverable.

We were built on a simple premise: people who need private investigation services are usually going through something stressful. You don't need shadowy marketing or vague promises. You need clear answers, obtained legally, so you can make decisions.

Founder Background

Kristopher Corter

Founder, Howler Investigative

Kristopher Corter is the founder of Howler Investigative. He works with individuals, families, attorneys, and small businesses who need clear, documented answers about the people, relationships, and records involved in a decision they are about to make. Howler's work covers backgrounds, locates, asset investigations, and legal and litigation support.

His experience spans more than two decades across intelligence, investigations, cybersecurity, data science, psychology, and structural analysis in military, government, and private sector environments. That range informs the way Howler approaches its work. Most cases turn as much on human behavior, incentives, and expected patterns as they do on records alone.

He served ten years in the U.S. Army as an Infantry Sniper, Counterintelligence Special Agent, and Tactical Human Intelligence (HUMINT) Team Lead. Deployments to Afghanistan and operating in ambiguous, high-consequence environments shaped the judgment, discipline, and pattern recognition that continue to inform the firm's case work. He received the Bronze Star for his contributions to combat operations.

Following his military service, he spent more than a decade supporting investigations and digital intelligence efforts for AmLaw 100 law firms, Fortune 500 companies, government entities, and private investigators. The matters covered fraud, financial crime, human trafficking, due diligence, and complex entity structures. That work became the foundation for Di, the intelligence consultancy he leads today, which serves corporate, legal, and government clients on complex strategic intelligence and executive due diligence.

Kristopher created Howler Investigative as a Di company to extend the same operating standard to licensed PI work. Di's engagements are built for corporate, legal, and government clients with strategic intelligence needs that go beyond what a licensed PI engagement can deliver. Howler handles the licensed investigative work that individuals, families, small businesses, and their counsel rely on, including backgrounds, locates, asset investigations, accident and death investigations, insurance fraud, legal and litigation support, competitive intelligence, and process serving. The two firms share operating standards but run case mixes and pricing built for different audiences.

The recurring problem Howler was built to solve is straightforward. Clients are routinely asked to make consequential decisions about a hire, a partner, a tenant, a legal strategy, or a judgment enforcement before the full picture is documented. Every Howler engagement is scoped in writing, priced flat-fee where the scope allows, and delivered as a written report you can use directly or hand to counsel.

His approach centers on developing an accurate view of how the relevant actors, entities, and events are actually connected. Across public records, field verification, and digital sources, the goal is the same. A decision based on what is documented, not what was assumed.

Howler's work is informed by a structured analytical method, the Structural Analysis Approach, which breaks situations into discrete phases and moves from initial uncertainty to a defensible understanding before you commit to a course of action.
